Safety for all Cricket

Playing Safely at Sarisbury Athletic Cricket Club

At Sarisbury Athletic Cricket Club, we want every player from our youngest All Stars to our most seasoned veterans to enjoy cricket in a safe, supportive and well‑managed environment. This page brings together the key information, expectations and good‑practice guidelines that help us keep everyone safe on and around the field.

  • Wear appropriate protective gear (helmets, pads, gloves, box)

  • Make sure the playing area is clear of hazards

During Play

  • Follow the instructions of coaches, captains and umpires

  • Be aware of other players when throwing or swinging a bat

  • Use appropriate balls for age and ability levels

  • Report any unsafe conditions immediately

After Play

  • Cool down and stretch

  • Report any injuries to a coach or club official

  • Help tidy equipment safely

  • Boundary markers and sight screens

  • Changing rooms and social areas

If you spot anything that needs attention, please let a committee member or coach know.

First Aid & Emergencies

  • A first‑aid kit is available at all training sessions and matches

  • Several volunteers are first‑aid trained

  • The location of the nearest defibrillator is clearly signposted at the club

  • All injuries should be reported to a coach or club official so they can be logged

In an emergency, please follow the instructions of the coach or senior club member present.

Respect & Wellbeing

Safety isn’t just physical — it’s about creating a positive environment too.

We ask all players, parents and supporters to:

  • Respect teammates, opponents and officials

  • Encourage others and celebrate effort

  • Speak kindly and constructively

  • Raise concerns early so we can address them

Cricket is at its best when everyone feels welcome and valued.
