How matches are run.

Intra squad and Friendly matches

We aim to have multiple intra squad games throughout the summer and also hold friendly matches both home and away with local teams.  These are aimed at the juniors who might not yet be at the competitive league and cup level.  By having these matches it gives us the opportunity to see how these players are progressing with their training and see if they can be included in the league and cup matches.

League and knock-out cup matches.

Our policy is that team managers should aim to select "a competitive team that has a chance of playing well together".

This means that:

  • For Tier 1 and cup games, we will pick more advanced players who could be on the Hampshire pathway programme or are developing into Tier 1 and need to be rotated into this higher level of competitive cricket.

  • For Tier 2, we pick juniors who show they have the ability to play competitive cricket.

Both levels of tier cricket are generally played against very good opposition.

Factors required for League and Cup matches

  • Players must, in the view of the coaches, be able to take part safely and enjoyably.

  • Must make their availability on Teamo know at least a week in advance.

  • Regular attendance at training and turning up to matches on time.

  • Have a good balance of batting, bowling, fielding and be keen to try keeping in some age groups.

Our aim is to provide cricket matches for all juniors.

We run teams in the competitive Junior Hampshire league, we have friendlies with local teams and we also have intra squad matches.  We aim to ensure all players play in multiple matches across intra, friendly and competitive per season.  All games run outside of our training times are run by parents volunteering their precious time, so please help and put yourself forward or give help on the day.  Quite simply the more help we have the more we can do.
